Rozhen is a passionate community advocate and leader, having built her life and career in Ontario since immigrating here from Iran at the age of 10. With a degree in Economics from the University of Toronto, she has worked for nine years in healthcare technology and innovation, currently serving as a Senior Product Manager in Digital Health. After moving to Mimico with her wife in 2021, Rozhen became President of the Mimico Residents Association, advocating for local issues like responsible development and infrastructure improvements. Motivated by the lack of effective leadership on key community challenges, Rozhen is running to represent Etobicoke-Lakeshore, believing the area deserves strong leadership and real change.
Rozhen grew up in a working-class immigrant family, where she experienced the resilience, resourcefulness and drive needed to succeed in a new country. But she also learned that getting ahead wasn’t always just about determination and hard work, but access, connections and opportunity. These experiences have shaped her progressive values and resolve to fight for a society where everyone, regardless of background, has a fair opportunity to build a good life. Born in Iran and raised in the United Arab Emirates, Rozhen immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of 10. Ontario has been her home ever since, shaping her values, perspective, and commitment to community.
Rozhen attended the University of Toronto and graduated with a degree in Economics. Her professional career led her to the healthcare field, and she has worked in health innovation, technology and strategy for the last 9 years. During this time, she has led various health technology portfolios which have been implemented in some of Canada’s largest healthcare organizations. She currently works as a Senior Product Manager in Digital Health for one of Canada’s major laboratory diagnostics providers.
In 2021, Rozhen moved to the Mimico area of Etobicoke-Lakeshore with her wife after falling in love with the area’s beautiful green spaces and vibrant neighborhoods. She joined the Board of Directors of the Mimico Residents Association in order to become more involved in her community and was elected President of the organization shortly after. During her time leading the Mimico Residents Association, Rozhen has been a tireless advocate on key issues such as the Mimico creek spill, the Mimico GO station redevelopment, and the need for a responsible approach to developments in the community that comes with matching investments in infrastructure, transit, amenities and more. She has also worked closely with other local and neighbouring community groups to build coalitions and advance the best interests of all South Etobicoke residents.
For Rozhen, entering politics is not something she set out to do. However, after witnessing the absence of strong leadership from our current provincial representative with respect to pressing issues in the community, she felt compelled to act. As Etobicoke-Lakeshore grows rapidly, it faces major challenges in traffic, transit, housing, environmental protection, and more. Rozhen believes that this community needs strong leadership at Queens Park from someone willing to fight for the needs of ordinary Ontarians. She’s running to represent Etobicoke-Lakeshore because she believes that this community deserves better and that positive change will come from those willing to roll up their sleeves.
