Dear Etobicoke – Lakeshore,

My name is Rozhen Asrani and I intend to be elected as your next Member of Provincial Parliament in Etobicoke – Lakeshore. I am a passionate community advocate and leader, with a career in healthcare and a love for my community in Etobicoke-Lakeshore, who believes that the people of this community deserve better.

As a working-class person, I’ve seen and experienced the pressures of Ontario’s soaring cost of living, housing crisis, and inadequate healthcare. Under Doug Ford’s leadership, life has become tougher for ordinary Ontarians—people who work hard, manage their finances responsibly, yet struggle to get ahead.

I know the frustration of trying to buy a home without family support, only to face skyrocketing prices. Having come from a low-income family, I’m outraged that our government ignores the spiraling cost of living crisis in this province. I’ve seen the toll of chronic underfunding in healthcare in my professional experience. And as the sister of someone with special needs, I’m dismayed at Doug Ford’s cuts to essential supports for students who need them most.

In my community advocacy work locally, I have seen how developers are being given a blank cheque by this Conservative government to deliver less affordable housing and fewer community benefits than ever before. Meanwhile, provincial agencies are continuing to fall short of their responsibilities to build critical infrastructure and transit that this community needs, with no accountability.

As someone who is proud to call Etobicoke Lakeshore my home, I am also deeply disappointed that our current Conservative MPP is more focused on ripping up bike lanes than addressing the very real challenges the people of this riding face when it comes to housing, transit, infrastructure, healthcare and education.

I believe that there is a better way, and that the Ontario NDP is the party currently best positioned to deliver for working class Ontarians. Ontarians deserve bold policy proposals that materially improve the lives of ordinary people and a platform that truly lives up to the ONDP’s vision of a progressive party for working families.

Our community needs a real advocate—someone who understands these challenges firsthand and is ready to fight for meaningful change.
